Lezing en Q&A met schrijfster Jan Carson

Het Leuven Centre for Irish Studies nodigt u graag uit voor een lezing en Q&A met schrijfster Jan Carson op 27 maart om 18u in Barbóék in Leuven.

Jan Carson is een uiterst originele stem uit Noord-Ierland. In haar vaak magisch-realistische verhalen en romans onderzoekt ze het woelige Noord-Ierse verleden en heden. Haar indringende en spannende roman, The Fire Starters, won in 2019 de EU-prijs voor literatuur en haar meest recente publicatie, The Raptures, kreeg lovende kritieken. Een serie kortverhalen in opdracht van BBC radio 4 werd in 2021 gepubliceerd met als titel The Last Resort. Jan Carson is in Belfast ook erg actief in sociale projecten rond kunst en literatuur.

The Leuven Centre for Irish Studies invites you to a reading and Q&A by Belfast writer Jan Carson on 27 March in Barboék in Leuven, at 6 pm.

Jan Carson is a fiercely original writer, who often uses magical elements in her short stories and novels as she tries to make sense of Northern Ireland's tumultuous past and present. Her powerful novel about fatherhood, The Fire Starters, won the EU Prize for Literature in 2019 and her most recent novel, The Raptures received raving reviews. A short story series commissioned by BBC radio 4 came out as The Last Resort in 2021. Jan is also very active in arts and community work in Belfast.
